What are home air purification systems?

There are several types of air filtration systems. The most effective air purification systems are designed to work with your heating and cooling systems to filter the air throughout your entire house. When we talk about air purifications in the rest of this post, these are the systems we’ll be referring to.

Do home air purifications systems work? And if so, how effective are they?

How do home air purification systems work?

In-duct whole home air purification systems use a 3-in-1 package that keeps the air in your home fresh, clean, and pure. Professional HVAC installers, like Rocky Mountain Services, install the air purification system onto an existing HVAC system.

As air enters the system, it is filtered with a MERV 13 Filtration Media. This pleated 4 inch filter traps particles as small as .3 micron including mold, bacteria, dust, dander, and pollen.

After the filter, the air must pass through an Ultraviolet C (UVC) Germicidal Treatment Zone guarded by two powerful 24” UVC germicidal lamps. These lamps neutralize airborne microbes such as bacteria, viruses, mold, and fungi.

The final phase uses a Photo-Reactive Oxidation Process. When the aluminum honeycomb cells are exposed to the UVC germicidal light, the extensive surface area transforms the odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into harmless, odorless water vapor and carbon dioxide. The cell core is maintenance-free and never needs replacing.
